Grated pumpkin, applesauce, sugar, and spices make this a sweet treat!

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 cups finely grated pumpkin
  • 1 ½ cups unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground allspice

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Stir pumpkin, applesauce, sugar, cinnamon, and allspice together in a saucepan over medium heat; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and cook at a simmer until thick, about 90 minutes.

  2. It's delicious. I made it with homemade unsweetened applesauce and omitted the sugar. I don't miss the sugar a bit and it is much more healthy.
  3. I used homemade unsweetened applesauce (made from Jonathan apples) in this recipe. Once I was able to get the pumpkin grated this was quite simple and this turned out wonderfully. I will make this again but try it with pumpkin spice next time.
