You will never go back microwave popcorn after trying this range-top recipe. It is made with oil, margarine, and seasoned salt.

Recipe Ingredients

  • ¼ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons margarine
  • ½ cup unpopped popcorn
  • ½ teaspoon seasoned salt, or to taste

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Start by cutting a paper grocery sack in half. This will serve as a makeshift serving bowl and it will absorb excess oil.
  2. 2 In a 2 quart pot, combine the oil, margarine and popcorn. Set over high heat, and constantly shake the pan back and forth. After the first kernel of corn pops, place the lid on the pot, and continue shaking. When the popcorn starts to lift the lid up off the pan, remove it from the heat, and hold it over the paper bag until it stops popping.
  3. 3 Pour into the paper sack and season with half of the seasoned salt. Shake the paper sack to distribute the salt. Taste before adding more so you don't make it too salty. You can always add more salt.

  1. I lost my ability to walk because of how bussin this popcorn was. I made it again recently but the sodium ratio was better than my wheelchair. I wish my wheelchair was salt now. I am currently morbidly obese and made this to lose weight. However, I am now more ravenous than ever. The thought - Read more ...

Ok, what the hell. What is all this bullcrap about sodium ratios?! All I did was post a family popcorn recipe on here sixteen years ago and now all of a sudden my coworkers start killing me softly with these abhorrent reviews. Like seriously?! I was just trying to share my nostalgia with my daughters - Read more ...

The sodium ratio is unspeakably good. My mouth waters for this every day. Next time make sure to say it’s safe for rats because two of my eight died from eating it. Extracting the popcorn from their corpses was too hard so I just ate the rats. It was good but I do not want - Read more ...

Hi John, I stumbled upon this recipe about a month ago and was debating whether to try it, but after thirty days of anguish I caved to my hunger pangs and poured the God forsaken kernels into the kettle. Silently watching the kernels in the pot, I began reflecting on life as the first kernels - Read more ...
