I’m showing you how to make baka bana. Besides plantain, it contains only four ingredients and you get delicious pan- fried baka bana. Let’s get started!

Recipe Ingredients

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 pinch salt
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 1 large ripe plantain, sliced
  • vegetable oil for frying

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Add warm water, stirring constantly, until a pancake-like batter forms, about 2 minutes. Dip plantain slices into the batter.
  2. 2 Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat. Cook plantains in batches until golden, about 2 minutes. Flip and cook for 1 minute more. Drain on paper towels.

  1. first batch i made with a very ripe plantain, lot of black spots on it, was decent. next batch with fresh plantains, not so good, no taste.
  2. Tasty and simple. I pan-fried these but I think they might be better shallow-fried (and the default photo looks like shallow or deep fried batter). Still tasty if not as attractive as shallow-fried. Served with peanut sauce from the Indonesian Satay recipe on this site.
