These Doggie Treats are made with whole wheat flour and Cheddar cheese. Sure to turn any dog into your best friend.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • ¼ cup powdered milk

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Preheat the oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.
  2. 2 In a large bowl, stir together the cheese, oil, beef broth and garlic. Combine the whole wheat flour, all purpose flour, cornmeal and powdered milk; stir into the cheese mixture until well blended. You may need to use your hand to properly blend the dough. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough out to 1/4 inch thickness. Use a bone shaped cookie cutter to cut out the treats. Place them onto the prepared baking sheet 1 1/2 inches apart.
  3. 3 Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until the treats are firm and the bottoms are lightly browned. Cool on wire racks.

Reviews

  1. My Dogs love them I did however leave out the corn meal as my dog does not digest it well.
  2. As an animal heathcare professional, I am highly upset that this site has a recipe containing a food that is poisonous to a dog's digestive system. Very upsetting that people don't do their research before posting such things for others to try on their own beloved pets. Maybe you all should check out ASPCA's website - Read more ...
  3. I would have to omit the garlic as it is toxic to dogs. Parsley and rosemary can be used as a flavoring. Otherwise it is very easy to make and my Corki loved them!! Lynn C.
  4. Though these cookies sound really good, I think people should know that garlic and onions are toxic to dogs. People can decide for themselves. Especially little dogs. Shari
  5. My doxies rate these PAWTASTIC with dew claws up!!!! Super easy to make. I just had to add a little more beef broth to moisten the dough. Great recipe.
  6. Not too bad the dogs definately like them. I found the dough way too crumbly to roll and ended up adding an egg to get it to hold together enough to roll. A short stint in the fridge also helped with this.
  7. woof woof woof
  8. I got a little carried away with the garlic but once they were done they did not smell too garlicky. My dogs love 'em!
  9. These were pretty good. The texture was perfect for rolling out once I doctored it up although I did add wheat germ and nutritional yeast for some of the all-purpose flour. My dog really liked them. I'd like to try other recipes as well. Maybe peanut butter would make it better?
