Simple, quick marinade for an easy, tasty dinner of grilled tilapia. Add some rice and a veggie.

Recipe Ingredients

  • ¾ cup olive oil
  • ½ cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ lemon, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 dashes hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®)
  • 1 pinch sea salt to taste
  • 4 (4 ounce) tilapia fillets

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Combine olive oil, parsley, vinegar, garlic, lemon juice, oregano, black pepper, hot sauce, and sea salt in a large, zip-top bag. Shake well. Add tilapia fillets and marinate in the mixture for 30 minutes.
  2. 2 Preheat an outdoor grill for high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  3. 3 Cook fillets on the preheated grill until they flake easily with a fork, about 5 minutes per side.

You can use balsamic vinegar instead of red wine vinegar, if preferred; You can use your favorite Italian dressing or barbecue sauce in place of the marinade recipe for a shortcut; You can grill these over coals, if preferred. You can also fry the fillets instead of grilling them. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook fish until fillets easily flake with a fork, 2 to 3 minutes per side.


  1. Tasted good, and the fish turned out great. I cut the olive oil down to 1/2 cup and used a teaspoon of dried parsley and used all other ingredients as called for. Thanks for a nice marinade that my kids liked too!
