Children really love looking at faces. My 2 year old loves eating them, too. This has expanded to an activity called eating dad’s face. My son thinks this is hilarious. He gobbles the face down. This meal is not only nutritious but fun and educational as well. Shape recognition is an important part of reading.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 ounce Cheddar cheese
  • 8 thin wheat crackers
  • 2 cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ¼ cup shredded carrot
  • 1 orange, peeled and segmented

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Cut cheese into shapes: squares, triangles, and circles. Place cheese shapes and cherry tomato halves on crackers. Use these, as well as shredded carrot and orange segments to make a face complete with eyes, nose, ears, mouth, and hair--use your imagination! The kids will love it.

  1. My daughter is 10 yrs old and still enjoys the face shapped type of food.
  2. I'm giving this 5 stars because the kids had a blast making faces. They didn't really eat the carrots very well though and all of them wanted a dip to go with it. I would suggest having peanut butter or a veggie cream cheese for them to use. Thanks for the recipe.
  3. I work at a preschool and we have used this concept with various foods for some of our "pickier" eaters. It usually works! Thanks for sharing!
