Every Christmas, as soon as I put this out, everyone rushes around the punch bowl like a pack of wild animals! It wouldn’t be Christmas without it. I usually make a non-alcoholic batch for the non-drinkers.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 2 quarts eggnog, chilled
  • 3 cups cold coffee
  • 2 cups bourbon whiskey
  • 2 cups chilled heavy cream
  • 2 pints coffee ice cream
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg, for garnish

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Whisk together eggnog, coffee, and whiskey in a punch bowl until well blended.
  2. 2 Whip the cream in a large mixing bowl until it forms soft peaks. Lightly fold the whipped cream into the eggnog mixture.
  3. 3 Float scoops of coffee ice cream in the eggnog. Sprinkle with nutmeg to serve.

Chef's Notes

Vary the eggnog by using rum instead of bourbon.

Reviews

  1. Huge hit at my holiday party! I did the recipe exactly and the coffee is genius. It tones down the egg nog test that not everyone likes so ends up being universally liked! Passed on to a few friends...
  2. We loved this recipe although I did change it slightly: I only added 2 cups of coffee instead of 3 and I added cinnamon sticks. The amount of Bourbon was perfect! It's nice and thick and rich. Mmmmm!
  3. This recipe was HUGE for me. My mom is a big egg nog fan and even bigger fan of coffee ice cream. I'm sure she'll be making it on her own for years to come over the holidays (Christmas New Years hey maybe even July 4th for my birthda...YEA!). The version that I made for - Read more ...
  4. I NEVER write reviews despite using this site constantly but this recipe deserves some love. We have been making an old family egg nog recipe for generations completely from scratch but probably won't as often now that we've found this recipe. It is SOOOOooo much easier and less risky due to no raw eggs. Store-bought - Read more ...
  5. I made this recipe last night for a company Christmas party held at my house. It did not go over well. Only three people tried it (myself included) and no one went back for a second glass. The colour is kind of off-putting and with the pieces of floating ice cream it looks rather unappetizing. - Read more ...
