An amazing dessert! You can use figs or dates in this recipe, and you can replace the orange liqueur with Marsala wine if you prefer. Preparation Time: 15 minutes. This recipe is from The WEBB Cooks, articles and recipes by Robyn Webb, courtesy of the American Diabetes Association.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 6 fresh figs
  • 2 tablespoons mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup blanched slivered almonds
  • ½ fluid ounce orange liqueur

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. 2 Cut each fig in half. (If you cannot find fresh figs and would like to use dried figs, cut a little opening in the top of the fig and make a pocket for the stuffing.)
  3. 3 In a small mixing bowl, combine chocolate chips, almonds, and wine. Spoon about 2 teaspoons of the stuffing mixture into each fig half.
  4. 4 Bake on a cookie sheet for 10 minutes.

  3. These stuffed figs are a nice delicious treat. Thanks for the recipe!!
  4. The hubby and I tried it; although I changed the semi-sweet morsels to 85% cocoa chocolate. I'm sure the semi-sweet chocolate is much better. Overall I will make them again.
  5. I used Marsala wine and dried figs. Stuffing was enough to fill 26 dried figs. It was easy enough to make a cavity in each dried fig with my index finger. It took me about 15 minutes to stuff all of the figs. The product was little bite-sized morsels and I have to admit I - Read more ...
  6. Costco had fresh figs at a reasonable price so I bought a flat never having prepared figs before. I thought for sure that someone on the web would have a recipe idea for a salsa. Came across this one and tried it on my husband for breakfast. I used the fresh figs didn't have blanched - Read more ...
