My grandfather used to make a huge bowl of this punch every Christmas. The recipe has been in the family for generations and it is delicious! For best results, serve in a punch bowl with a block of ice. Refrigerate leftover (if there is any) in a covered pitcher.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 (750 milliliter) bottle Burgundy wine
  • 2 (750 milliliter) bottles champagne, chilled
  • 8 fluid ounces brandy
  • 1 quart club soda

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 In a punch bowl, dissolve the sugar in the Burgundy wine. Stir in the champagne, brandy, and club soda just before serving.

Reviews

  1. This has become a staple at holiday gatherings!
  2. Made for New Year's Day party. No rave reviews but was enjoyed by some. Wish I'd added the pineapple juice suggested by someone else. Just didn't taste like a party punch to me.
  3. Absolutely fantastic!! It goes down easy and packs a punch. VERY popular at our Christmas Eve party. Many people asked what was in the punch. This is a keeper!!
  4. I made this for a holiday party. It was a big hit. I made an ice ring before hand in my bundt pan and added orange slices (cut really thin with peel on) and berries. As the ring melted down the oranges and berries added a wonderful touch to the punch.
  5. Delicious punch--even better with 1 qt of pineapple juice added to it.
  6. This is the best holiday punch I have ever had. It is so simple to make. It is a "MUST TRY".
  7. We had this today before dinner and it is the best Christmas punch I've ever had!
  8. This excellent recipe received rave notices from guests ranging from 26 years old to something over 60. It's delicious and easy to make. But be careful - it'll sneak up on you if you drink too much.
  9. Very tasty and festive. Reminds me of gatherings with my own Grandpa!
