This is a delicious and easy salad that my mother-in-law makes.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 (10 ounce) package mixed salad greens
  • 1 ripe avocado - peeled, pitted and chopped
  • 1 ripe tomato, chopped
  • 1 (6 ounce) can black olives, drained
  • 6 Greek pepperoncini peppers
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons white vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 3 ounces grated Parmesan cheese

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 In a large bowl, toss together the mixed greens, avocado, tomato, olives and pepperoncini peppers. Set aside.
  2. 2 In a small bowl, whisk together the oil, vinegar, garlic salt, oregano and basil. Pour over the salad mixture and toss to coat. Sprinkle with parmesan and serve.

  1. Neither my husband or I really liked this dressing too much. Other than that it is a pretty mainstream salad so it just wasn't that great.
  2. This salad has become a favorite of ours. It goes great with any meal-especially Italian.
  3. Love the Dressing! EXCEPT I agree with comments below that it is too salty!!! Must use Garlic POWDER....Then it will be awesome!
  4. Loved the ingredients but prefer my own olive oil viaigrette.
  5. The first time I tried this salad I followed the recipe exactly and it was way too salty for us. Made it again yesterday and used garlic powder instead of garlic salt. MUCH BETTER! This one's a keeper -- reminds us of the salad at that Italian restaurant.
  6. Not as good as I had hoped. Next time I would add more tomatoes and cut back on the olives.
  7. At first this recipe has a strange feel in the mouth because of the avocado melting into the oil but the next day the salad tasted best and every one loved it and ate big servings
  8. This was wonderful and very simple.
  9. This is a wonderful salad and I've used just the dressing for other salad varieties as well. I've passed on the recipe many times!
