Smoked paprika with a hint of thyme creates a seasoned salt with more character.

Recipe Ingredients

  • ⅓ cup table salt
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 ½ teaspoons onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground white pepper
  • ½ teaspoon ground turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon ground thyme

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Pour the salt into a small mixing bowl. Whisk in the sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, turmeric, and thyme until evenly blended. Store in a tightly sealed shaker jar.

  4. This is a great mixture! The smoked Paprika is a really nice touch. I've used it in hamburger steaks sautéed onions and mashed potatoes. I can't wait to try it on more foods!
  5. This is tasty enough as is. I haven't actually used it in a recipe yet. My usual use of seasoned salt is on grilled potatoes and this should work well. It's certainly much less expensive to mix this up with spices I generally have on hand.

  7. I love this! I am out of thyme...have lots of fresh but no dried but even without it it's great. The smoked paprika is the key I think. Next time I shop I'll pick up some dried thyme and add it to the mix.

  9. Make a batch of this for a real time (and money) saver! I use it on fish but I'll bet it's great on potatoes and lentils too!
