This German noodle recipe combines ham, Swiss cheese, cream, and tomato paste.

Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 (16 ounce) package mostaccioli pasta
  • 1 (1 pound) pre-cooked ham steak, diced
  • 1 pint heavy cream
  • ⅓ cup white sugar
  • 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ pound shredded Swiss cheese

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Bring a large pot of lightly-salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook until al dente, 8 to 10 minutes; drain well. Place the pasta in a large bowl.
  2. 2 Heat a skillet over medium heat. Cook the ham in the skillet for 3 minutes. Add the cream, sugar, tomato paste, soy sauce, and salt; stir. Reduce heat to medium low and cook and stir until the mixture reaches a low boil.
  3. 3 Pour the sauce over the drained pasta. Sprinkle the Swiss cheese over the top of the pasta; stir until the pasta is evenly coated.

  1. I actually have to agree with one reviewer who noted that they attended culinary school this recipe as is is very bland. Compared to ramen noodles maybe not? Anyway you do have the possibility of creating a decent meal with lots of adjustments especially with the sauce. If you are going to make this taste - Read more ...
  2. My family and i loved this dish!
  3. I made this for my kids and we loved it. The only thing I will do different next time is put a little less sugar. I may even substitute hamburger meat for the ham next time just to mix it up. Overall it was a hit at my house
  4. I made this recipie exactly as the poster instructed. (BTW I have had professional culinary training both on the job and in schooling.) This had to be the second to worst dish I have ever made. (which is rare.) I made this one evening for dinner. My husband and I choked it down(Out of starvation!) - Read more ...
  5. We really enjoyed this recipe. I added a bit of paprika to it.
  6. I made this last night. The only change I made was to use bacon instead of ham. I'm sorry. The taste was overpowering and not good at all. Neither my husband nor I could even eat it.
