Recipe Ingredients
- 10 cups water
- 2 cups dried navy beans
- 8 slices crisply cooked bacon, crumbled
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 cups water
Cooking Directions
- 1 Bring 10 cups water and navy beans to a boil in a large pot; cook at a boil for 2 minutes. Stir bacon, onion, brown sugar, molasses, and salt into the water.
- 2 Carefully pour the mixture into a slow cooker.
- 3 Cook on High, stirring occasionally, for 4 hours.
- 4 Stir 3 cups water into the mixture. Continue cooking until beans are tender, about 2 hours 15 minutes more.
