A unique and delicious low-fat dessert! For a chocolatey twist, coat the bananas in crushed puffed cocoa cereal instead of the breadcrumbs. Serve while hot, on top of fat-free ice cream. Alternatively, you can melt 2-3 tablespoons of ice cream and use to dip bananas in.

Recipe Ingredients

  • cooking spray
  • ¼ cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1 tablespoon granular no-calorie sucralose sweetener (such as Splenda®)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 large banana, cut into slices

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Preheat an oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  2. 2 Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spray with cooking spray.
  3. 3 Combine bread crumbs, no-calorie sweetener, cinnamon, ginger, and salt in a bowl.
  4. 4 Spray banana slices on both sides with the cooking spray.
  5. 5 Roll banana slices in the bread crumb mixture to coat, and arrange slices on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. 6 Lightly spray the banana slices again.
  7. 7 Bake in the preheated oven until crisp, 10 to 15 minutes.

  1. I've made these twice now following the recipe but won't make them again. We served them to 30 diners today. It's an excellent idea but we were glad we served the bananas with ice cream and a chocolate sauce.
  2. They turned out really good but are they supposed to be mushy when they come out of the oven? Or should they stay in the oven until they are crunchy?
  3. We loved these little treats! They aren't too sweet, just right. I don't love ginger but went with it, and it was perfect with banana! I didn't have bread crumbs so I used crushed rice chex, because it's gluten free. I can't have artificial sweetener so I used 1 1/12 Tbs. sugar. This will be - Read more ...
  4. What a great healthy dessert idea! So easy and delicious! Like others, I used brown sugar instead of fake sugar. I also did not find the need to spray the bananas before rolling them in the mixture. It stuck just fine without spraying them. I also think they would be great drizzled with chocolate!
  5. These were awesome. I dont like greek yogurt but used as a dip for these it works. Also made w/ graham cracker crumbs w/ brown sugar. Definetely a keeper. Thanks
  6. AMAZING. I used crushed plain Cheerios instead of bread crumbs and I didn't have any ginger (and I substituted brown sugar instead of fake sugar) but these turned out INCREDIBLE!! Make sure you are VERY generous with the cooking spray though so everything sticks. I served mine with a little bowl of melted chocolate chips! - Read more ...
  7. yummy and really simple to make I didn't change a thing but next time I think I'll cut back on the bread crumbs since I had plenty left over after using 1 banana. Thanks for sharing!
  8. These bananas are great!! I used half tbsp. real sugar instead of the no cal. This is such an easy quick and delicious recipe. I never would have thought to coat bananas with bread crumbs. This is a keeper. Thanks.
  9. Delicious and easy! I used crushed cornflakes instead of bread crumbs and baked quickly in my toaster oven.
