A spicy, molasses-y, and slightly tangy overnight oat recipe!

Recipe Ingredients

  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ¼ cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flaxseed meal
  • 1 teaspoon molasses
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 1 pinch ground cloves
  • 1 pinch ground allspice
  • 3 tablespoons raisins
  • 3 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Combine milk, oats, yogurt, brown sugar, flaxseed meal, molasses, vanilla extract, cinnamon, ginger, salt, nutmeg, cloves, and allspice in a glass container.
  2. 2 Refrigerate mixture 8 hours to overnight. Top with raisins and walnuts just before serving.

Chef's Notes

Use regular plain yogurt instead of Greek yogurt if desired.


  1. Excellent recipe! I left off the flax seed, molasses and cinnamon (which I don't like). I must say that I started eating some immediately instead of allowing it overnight!
  2. It definitely lives up to its name! Tasted just like spicy gingerbread. Not a fan personally of the texture that adding yogurt to overnight oats brings. It's too thick. It was almost too spicy; it reminds me of the kick you get in the palate from wasabi!
  3. So. Delicious! If you like gingerbread cookies or gingerbread anything this is perfect! I did add the raisins and nuts. Mine was thicker than what was pictured but oh so good!
  4. This was very good. I used steel cut oats I like the crunch.
  5. Ate half. Next day mixed an egg with it and cooked like a pancake. Yummy that way!!!
  6. This was very good. After being refrigerated overnight it had thickened so I added some heavy cream. I didn't see it was two servings but I did manage to eat it all myself. Next time I'll share or cut the recipe down but I will make this again. I followed the recipe. I ate it - Read more ...
