Sweet Fire Rib Rub

Also goes very good on some chicken, tri-tip steaks, or pretty much anything BBQ. I do a lot of smoked foods, and it’s perfect.

Recipe Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • ¼ cup smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Cooking Directions

  1. 1 Mix brown sugar, white sugar, paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and salt together in a bowl

Chef's Notes

Rub ribs with olive oil or mustard so rub sticks on meat. Do a good coat of rub over both sides and then wrap ribs with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate overnight. I smoke them for 3 hours, wrap in foil with butter and honey, and then smoke wrapped for another hour. You want to keep temp at about 260 degrees F (125 degrees C). Enjoy straight off BBQ pit.


  1. simple, definitely let it rubbed ribs sit in the fridge, as long as overnight. I think it needs more salt.
  2. I used Hot Hungarian Paprika instead of Smoked Paprika and Kosher Salt instead of table salt. Smoked with Apple wood for 2 hours, wrapped for 1 hour (a little butter & honey added). Tender, moist and delicious!

  5. A well balanced sweet heat rub. Maybe a bit to much sugar as it blackened the ribs a bit more than I prefer. Will use again but with some modifications.

  7. hi. I have used the recipe three times it has a lot of flavor sweet and spicy. my whole family loves the baby back ribs.
  8. It was delicious. I will use this again but will need to cut back on the spices. I used it on a slab of ribs and on a pork shoulder then smoked it in my Orion smoker. the entire family LOVED it but did comment on the amount of spice.
